Question: What is the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) and what are its goals?
The following website provides us with the eye-opening answer to this question-You Decide:
The Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP)!–Posted on DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
- Maoist group formed in 1974 as an offshoot of the Progressive Labor Party
- Seeks the violent destruction of America’s capitalist economic system
- Called for the assassination of President Reagan in 1984
- Was a key instigator of the 1992 Los Angeles race riots
The Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) is the premier Maoist party in the United States. Its earliest roots can be traced to June 1, 1962, when, in the immediate aftermath of that year’s Sino-Soviet split, approximately fifty members and ex-members of the U.S. Communist Party met at the Hotel Diplomat in New York. Favoring the Chinese brand of Communism over its Russian counterpart, these radicals founded the Progressive Labor Movement (PLM) to promote their political views. By 1966, the several-hundred-strong PLM renamed itself the Progressive Labor Party (PLP), which, at its first convention, decided to join forces with the radical Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). But PLP shunned the counter-culture image of SDS and opposed the latter’s calls for student revolution—urging young people instead to avoid doing anything that would alienate fellow students or their communities. PLP tried unsuccessfully to take over SDS’s National Office, thereby pushing SDS even further to the political left—toward hard-line Maoism. Opposition to PLP tactics led to the formation of yet another Maoist group, the Revolutionary Youth Movement, which eventually split into two factions—one becoming the notorious terrorist group Weatherman; the other spawning a 1969 splinter group called the Bay Area Revolutionary Union (co-founded by H. Bruce Franklin, Robert Avakian, and Charles Hamilton), which would become the Revolutionary Communist Party in 1974.
RCP’s “Draft Program” consists of the following major tenets:
- “Of all the tyrants and oppressors in the world, there is none that has caused more untold misery and committed more screaming injustices against the people of the world than the rulers of the U.S. This is a country founded on genocide and slavery. … The rulers of the U.S. have plundered and slaughtered their way to the top position within the worldwide system of capitalist-imperialism—a system of global exploitation, of political and military domination, and of murderous rivalry among the imperialist powers themselves.”
- “The imperialists in their endless quest to turn everything into a means for private profit, and in their monstrous methods of warfare to enforce and extend their domination … generally wreak havoc on the earth and its resources. … To bring down this system is the urgent need of the world’s exploited and oppressed. In the U.S. itself, it is our special challenge and responsibility to make revolution, at the earliest possible time, right within the belly of this most powerful imperialist beast … as part of the world proletarian revolution.”
- “The ultimate goal and the historic mission of the proletariat is communism, a world in which human beings are no longer divided into classes. … Socialist revolution will put an end to the profit-over-all, expand-or-die insanity of capitalism. … As the crucial first step in this, the new proletarian power will immediately seize and socialize ownership of the major means of production—that is, convert them into the common property of the people, in the form of state ownership or collective ownership by large groups of working people. The state will also institute socialist economic planning to consciously regulate and guide social production to serve the masses and revolution.”
RCP considers capitalism the root cause of the world’s most destructive social ills, such as: (a) Racism: “The history of the development of capitalism in the U.S. is a history of the most savage oppression of the Black, Native American, Chicano, Puerto Rican, Hawaiian, Asian, and other oppressed peoples”; (b) Discrimination Against Immigrants: “Millions of undocumented immigrants live in the shadows of U.S. society without the most basic rights … Entire groups of immigrants, such as Arabs, are scapegoated and demonized, and non-European immigrants generally are targets of racism; and (c) Subjugation of Women: “In the face of the brutal oppression of women and the traditional thinking of thousands of years, the proletariat will make dramatic changes upon coming to power.”
In RCP’s calculus, “revolutionary war” is the only means by which people can ultimately be freed from capitalism’s shackles. Says RCP: “Marx once noted that ‘Force is the midwife of every old society pregnant with the new.’ The old ruling classes have never voluntarily stepped down from power. … Thus the proletariat must overthrow and thoroughly smash and dismantle the bourgeois state. And that requires war. In the words of Mao [Zedong]: ‘A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another.’ War brings with it great bloodshed and destruction, and the proletariat will ultimately abolish war. But this will be done, and can only be done, by abolishing the system of capitalist accumulation and class oppression that constantly gives rise to war.”
The early to mid-1980s were a time of intense activity for RCP. In the summer of 1983, the organization set up terrorist training camps in Colorado, drawing people from the Iranian Student Association and the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) — the latter of which is known for its involvement in heroin trafficking. Police have also linked the RCP to heavy-weapons-trafficking endeavors carried out in unison with the Ohio-based “Outlaws” motorcycle gang.
In October 1983, RCP tried to sabotage American efforts to deploy Pershing and cruise missiles in Germany. Toward that end, the noted RCP member C. Clark Kissinger led a “World Without Imperialism Contingent” (WWIC) on an eight-week tour of Germany to lay the framework for these efforts. Accompanied by members of Peru’s Marxist guerrilla army, the Shining Path, Kissinger and his RCP comrades penetrated Mutlangen U.S. military base in West Germany, where Pershing II intermediate-range missiles were stored. In November of that year, RCP / WWIC members were involved, along with Red Cells and other German anarchist-terrorists, in an assault against Vice President George Bush’s caravan during the latter’s visit to Krefeld, Germany. Two months thereafter, the RCP newspaper Revolutionary Worker (renamed Revolution in 2005) called for the assassination of President Ronald Reagan.
This was approximately the period during which RCP sought to establish alliances with radical environmentalist organizations, as exemplified by its November 22, 1983 joint public meeting with representatives of Greenpeace. RCP’s radical agendas found further expression when the Party sponsored the March 12, 1984 founding conference of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement in London.
Throughout its history, one of RCP’s principal objectives has been to foment civil unrest in the United States. The most notable example of such efforts occurred on April 29, 1992, when RCP members looted and trashed the downtown and government districts of Los Angeles, triggering the infamous Rodney King riots. During the days immediately preceding the violence, RCP—which maintained close ties to the L.A. gangs known as the Crips and the Bloods—had circulated throughout South Central Los Angeles a leaflet featuring a statement by RCP National Spokesman Carl Dix, titled “It’s Right To Rebel”—a quote popularized by Mao Zedong. Encouraged by Dix, RCP activists helped lead the riots that would leave 58 people dead, more than 2,300 people injured, some 5,300 buildings burned, and $1 billion in property damaged or destroyed. On the ten-year anniversary of the rioting, RCP member Joseph Veale fondly recalled the violence as “the most beautiful, the most heroic civil action in the history of the United States.”
Robert Avakian is RCP’s Founder and current “Chairman-in-Exile.” As a result of 1981 criminal indictments issued against him and several other RCP leaders for their break-in to White House grounds during a presidential ceremony, Avakian and his cohorts fled to Paris, where they have been living ever since. From his Parisian base, Avakian continues to agitate for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government. RCP National Council member C. Clark Kissinger in 1987 founded the group Refuse & Resist to serve as a recruiting office for RCP. More recently, he created the organizations Not In Our Name and World Can’t Wait.
In late 2005, RCP launched its Revolutionary Communist Speaking Tour, designed to “build a communist movement among the people locked on the bottom of society in the current era of Bushite Christian-fascism.” The organization further disseminates its message via literature that is distributed by Revolution Books, which operates a number of stores nationally.
Today RCP maintains offices in sixteen U.S. metropolitan areas: Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Berkeley, Washington, Miami, Atlanta, Honolulu, Baltimore, Cambridge/Boston, Detroit, New York City, Cleveland, Portland [Oregon], Philadelphia, Houston, and Seattle. It is also active in Western Europe, particularly in France, Germany, and England.”

Note: My following blog post contains the results of my intense research and/or investigation that I conducted prior to the 2008 Presidential Election, which revealed President Obama’s Communist affiliations, along with an interview conducted by G. Edward Griffin in 1985 with Yuri Bezmenov, a former Soviet KGB Operative, who defected to the USA in 1968 and revealed the former Soviet’s KGB plans for the subversion of the USA and Canada.
He also revealed that this subversion process had been in place in the USA and Canada for the past twenty-five (25) years and was being carried out in four distinct stages, which are: Demoralization, Destabilization, Crisis, and Normalization.
Included in my blog post is a video of Yuri Bezmenov’s interview with G. Edward Griffin, which was conducted in 1985, approximately seventeen (17) years after his defection to the USA-You Decide:

World Can’t Wait (WCW)-Posted on DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7213
These are pertinent excerpts from this website:
- Revolutionary communist movement that stages protests against the Bush administration
- Organizes college and high-school students
Founded in June 2005 by Charles Clark Kissinger, a longtime leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, World Can’t Wait (WCW) is a direct-action movement whose initial mission was to organize “people living in the United States to take responsibility to stop the whole disastrous course led by the Bush administration.” The organization asserted that removing President Bush from office “will be like removing a forty-pound tumor from your gut.” WCW vowed “to send Bush, [Vice President Dick] Cheney and the rest of those fascists packing. … After that, there are people in ‘World Can’t Wait’ who are working for everything from reforming the Democratic party, to building a 3rd party, to revolution.”
On October 13, 2005, WCW organized a protest “encampment” near the White House. Participating activists spent the ensuing twenty days counting down to the “end of the Bush regime.” The campers were treated to visits from “national voices of conscience” who had endorsed their efforts. Most prominent among them was anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan. Sunsara Taylor, a WCW organizer, declared that the “encampment is a premonition. Soon, all the pent-up anger and outrage—of the hundreds of thousands of Black people betrayed during [Hurricane] Katrina, of the millions of women who refuse to give up abortion, of the immigrants who have been demonized and rounded up, of the majority that is fed up with the lies and lies and lies—will come forward in a movement to drive Bush out.”
The WCW movement encourages the harassment and intimidation of those opposed to its agendas. On October 24, 2005, two Los Angeles-based WCW activists infiltrated a West Hollywood appearance by conservative speaker David Horowitz. Professing themselves determined to “shut this fascist down,” the activists had to be forcibly restrained and removed from the theater, and later boasted that they had disrupted a “Nazi Rally.”
Another target of WCW attacks is Berkeley Law Professor John Yoo, who incurred the organization’s wrath after advising the Bush administration that the detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba were not eligible for Geneva Convention protections accorded to prisoners of war. In late October 2005 a number of WCW organizers stormed into Yoo’s class, accompanied by student activists outfitted in orange jumpsuits meant to symbolize those worn by detainees in Guantanamo Bay.
A number of college campuses host WCW chapters, and many of the group’s activities center on student organizing on both the college and high-school levels – exhorting young people to engage in civil disobedience, distribute political literature, and participate in such activities as “walkouts” and “campus shutdowns.”
A key date in WCW history was November 2, 2005. To hasten the coming of its eagerly anticipated communist revolution, the organization designated this date, the one-year mark of President Bush’s reelection, as a day of “society-wide resistance” in cities and college campuses across the United States. There were small-scale protests in a number of cities—including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta and Chicago—aimed at helping to ignite the communist revolution for which WCW organizers candidly agitate. At the San Francisco rally, the festivities began with the reading of a statement from the Revolutionary Communist Party. That was followed by a taped message from convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal, a supporter of World Can’t Wait. Cindy Sheehan also delivered a speech.
A comprehensive list of WCW’s individual and organizational endorsers can be viewed on the WCW website. Among these supporters are: the After Downing Street anti-war coalition, the ANSWER coalition of New York City, Aris Anagnos, Ed Asner, Mumia Abu Jamal, Bill Ayers, Code Pink, Harry Belafonte, William Blum, Bob Bossie, Ward Churchill, John Conyers, Michael Eric Dyson, Eve Ensler, Jodie Evans, Ralph Fertig, Gloria Steinem, C. Clark Kissinger, Frances Kissling, Rep. Bobby Rush, Martin Sheen, Jane Fonda, the Islamic Circle of North America, the Islamic Association of America, Jesse Jackson, Jesse Jackson Jr., the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Michael Lerner, the National Lawyers Guild, Armando Navarro, Not In Our Name, Michael Ratner, Cindy Sheehan, Gore Vidal, Carl Dix of the Revolutionary Communist Party, Alice Walker, Leonard Weinglass, Cornel West, Sean Penn, Harold Pinter, Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton, Susan Sarandon, Progressive Democrats of America, Major Owens, Mark Crispin Miller, Lynne Stewart, Michael Berg, Ali Khan, Mara Verhayden-Hilliard, Cynthia McKinney, Keith Ellison, John Conyers, Gold Star Families for Peace, Medea Benjamin, and Howard Zinn.
Virtually all of the foregoing individuals and groups were signatories to a December 12, 2005, WCW advertisement that appeared in The New York Times, accusing the Bush administration of “setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way” by “waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq … openly torturing people … moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule … [and] enforc[ing] a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.” Continued the ad: “People look at all this and think of Hitler—and they are right to do so.”
On September 20, 2006, WCW ran another ad in The New York Times, promoting its upcoming October 5 rally “to drive out the Bush regime.” Billed as a set of concurrent “protests in cities all across the country,” the ad exhorted people to skip work and school that day in order to participate in the demonstrations. The declared aim of the protests was to bring “to a halt” the U.S. government’s alleged pursuit of “endless wars,” its routine use of “torture,” its indifference to the victims of Hurricane Katrina (in 2005), and its quest to transform the United States into a “theocracy.”
To fund its various protests and appeals, WCW relies partly on individual contributions and in the main on the Alliance for Global Justice, a Washington D.C.-based 501©(3) charity “focused on human, environmental and worker rights.”
As of 2008, WCW’s board of directors included former U.S. Senator James Abourezk, abortion-rights activists Rosemary Candelario and Warren Hern, California state assemblyman Mark Leno, professor and author Mark Crispin Miller, attorney Thomas Olmos, hip hop performer Boots Riley, attorney Lynne Stewart, writers Gore Vidal and Sunsara Taylor, historian Howard Zinn, and former U.S. Congressional Representative Cynthia McKinney.
After President George W. Bush left office in January 2009 and was succeeded by Barack Obama, WCW adopted a new mission statement:
“The World Can’t Wait organizes people living in the United States to repudiate and stop the fascist direction initiated by the Bush Regime, including: the murderous, unjust and illegitimate occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan; the global ‘war of terror’ of torture, rendition and spying; and the culture of bigotry, intolerance and greed. This direction cannot and will not be reversed by leaders who tell us to seek common ground with fascists, religious fanatics, and empire. It can only be possible by the people building a community of resistance—an independent mass movement of people—acting in the interests of humanity to stop, and demand prosecution, of these crimes.”
The RCP calls for the armed overthrow of the U.S. government…From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :

“Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.
And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.”
Voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA [Maoist] [Revolution] Interview with Bill Ayers, Revolution #63, October 1, 2006:”On Progressive Education, Critical Thinking and the Cowardice of Some in Dangerous Times”:
http://rwor.org/a/063/ayers-en.html
These are pertinent excerpts from this article and/or blog post:
“Bill Ayers, Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago, returned from summer vacation to find a letter from colleagues he’d worked with for decades. They told him about a conference on progressive education they were planning for the spring, and at the same time informed him that he would not be welcome to it!
Professor Ayers is the author of Teaching Toward Freedom and many other books, anthologies, and essays on progressive education that have appeared in many journals, including Harvard Educational Review, Journal of Teacher Education, Teachers College Record, Rethinking Schools, Nation, and Cambridge Journal of Education.
Ayers is also the author of the book Fugitive Days, about his experiences as one of the founders of the ‘60s-’70s group the Weather Underground.
Revolution correspondent Reggie Dylan recently spoke with Bill Ayers about his colleagues’ letter and its larger implications.
Reggie Dylan: Tell us about how you learned that you had been “disinvited” to a conference by your colleagues, and about your initial response.
Bill Ayers: I returned from summer vacation and I had a letter on my desk. The people who wrote the letter were an administrator at a university, a dean, and then a couple of people I knew pretty well, actually. I think I was stunned to get it because what it said in effect was we’re having an important progressive education conference, we count you as one of the important progressive educators in our era. Therefore we feel we owe you an explanation of why you’re not invited.
And my first read, I kind of laughed and put it aside. But then as I thought about it I thought… There’s not a single sign of the times, there are many, many signs of the times, and some of them are quite hopeful, some of them are quite exciting, but here’s one of the dismal signs of the times.
These guys aren’t just progressive, they’re socialists, and they think of themselves as activists. And yet they feel that in order to have a meeting that will be legitimate, they have to make a decision who to exclude, and they excluded me. And I decided it wasn’t an issue about me in particular. It wasn’t an issue about my personal feelings. And I certainly didn’t feel hurt. But I did feel increasingly agitated about the thinking that went into it. I don’t have it in front of me, but here’s what I remember about being first very, very agitated about.
They said in the body of the letter:
“we want to position progressive education not as radical, but as familiar and good. Now that just steamed up my ears because if you’re saying you’re a progressive educator…”
That’s one of the things that’s actually annoyed me for about 40 years of being a progressive educator: the separation of the concept of progressive education from the concept of politics and political change. You can’t separate them…and this is a contradiction, incidentally, that goes all the way back to the beginning of progressive education and really the beginning of the conversations about the relationship between school and society.
But John Dewey was one of the brilliant, brilliant writers about what democratic education would look like and was himself an independent socialist. But he never resolved a central contradiction in our work, the contradiction between trying to change the school and being embedded in society that has the exact opposite values culturally and politically and socially from the values you’re trying to build in a classroom. This contradiction is something progressive educators should address, not dodge.
So this is what got me going. That’s a short version.
Reggie Dylan: In your letter you say you see great harm for progressive education itself in what’s represented in the approach they’re taking.
Bill Ayers:There’s two things.
The first thing is they take the teeth out of the critique. They say we’re presenting progressive education as something nice and familiar. Then you’re not critiquing standardized testing, you’re not critiquing sorting kids, you’re not critiquing the privatization of the public space, you’re not critiquing the attack on teachers and the undoing of the trade union movement. So to me, you’re just saying, I’m giving you progressive education-lite. I don’t see the point in that. That’s one problem
The second problem is not addressing the fact that schools serve society in subtle and overt ways. So every school in every society is a microcosm of, or represents in some sense, that society… Here’s a great example. Sometimes its hard for people to see this inside our own country because these things are so familiar. But go outside our country. If you went to apartheid South Africa and you went into the schools, you would see a white school with 15 kids per class, high-tech, highly educated teachers, peaceful campuses.
And you go to the township and you see a classroom of 85 kids, no equipment and no rooms—and that would speak volumes. You could see, even if you knew nothing about apartheid, you would see apartheid represented in the school. One school is preparing kids to run society in the future; one school is preparing kids for the mines and the mills and the prisons.
Well, that’s true of all societies, and it’s as true of ours as any other. Go to the schools in the inner city. Go to the schools in the privileged suburbs and see what you see. To separate progressive education from the savage inequalities of our schools, from the drill and kill, from the sort and punish, it’s like a fantasy world.
You’re not changing anything if you don’t address the social inequities out there.
And right now, one of the cruelest places we see this is the question of preparing kids for prison, for unemployment, and for war.
We see this in big schools, we see this in big urban schools.
Where does the military recruit? They don’t recruit in New Trier [upper middle class school in the Chicago suburbs]. They don’t recruit at Andover and Exeter [elite private schools]. They’re not allowed in there. They recruit in DuSable high school and Lawndale high school [mainly Black and poor schools in Chicago]. And that’s unfair.
Reggie Dylan: You are on the David Horowitz list. (Horowitz is a highly placed operative in the service of the Bush regime carrying out an orchestrated attack on dissent and critical thinking in the universities.
Bill Ayers is one of the faculty viciously attacked in Horowitz’s book The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America.)
Maybe we can step back a bit and talk about the bigger attack on dissent and critical thinking that’s going on in academia in general. What you’re describing is a whole front of this, which is really important to be brought into it—what’s going on in the elementary and secondary level.
But there has been this whole attack going on in the universities which…
Bill Ayers: I agree with you, it’s not just elementary and high school. And I have a very strong take on it these days.
I actually was listening to Berlusconi the other day in Italy.
The right-wing bastard that used to run Italy. And Berlusconi said people criticize us because we have so much power.
But the truth is we don’t have the schools, and we don’t have the economy. And that’s very much what’s true in America. You know, if you look at a place like Chicago or if you look anywhere around the country, the right wing—it’s not just conservatives, it’s probably the most reactionary cabal of ideologues I’ve ever seen, operating with a very, very clear ideological purpose—control all three branches of the federal government, control many state governments, control the media—the kind of bought priesthood of the media that does nothing but bow down to them and kowtow to them.
And yet, if you hear them talk, they’re whining about how little power they have, how marginal they are, how under attack they are.
And on the one hand, you could say, oh that’s just demagoguery, those guys are bullshitting. But the truth is they see something that they know that we maybe don’t know so well, and that is their power istenuous and short-lived.
I think the reason we’re going to see the bombing of Iran is because they know that they have a little window here to do all the bad things that they’ve wanted to do, or in their view, to set the conditions for all the things that they would like to struggle for over the next decade. And they are going at their agenda with a fierce single-mindedness. And whether they are thrown out of power, the one public space that still irritates the crap out of them is education. And it is one of the public spaces that’s left to fight about.
So what do we see?
We see a whole frontal attack on the very idea of public education. It’s an attack on the idea that there should be a free common public education for all. And we see it in all kinds of subtle and in not-so-subtle forms. Subtle forms like zero tolerance.
What’s the point of the zero tolerance in a democracy?
In a democratic school system, classroom justice is flexible.
But not in an authoritarian society. In an authoritarian society classroom justice is authoritarian. Zero tolerance, right?
So there’s that kind of attack.
And the obsession with a single-minded standard of standardization. And again, I’m a big fan of standards. But I’m against standardization, which I take to be fundamentally anti-democratic.
And I’m for standards set by people working in classrooms with one another.
And then we see the metaphorical market being held up as the ideal of what the public schools should become. So we see charters and we see vouchers. But behind it all is the idea that it’s a market, that there are consumers and that there are producers, etc.
As far as higher education is concerned, it’s like, anybody who works in higher education like me—and we hear it said this is a bastion of liberal thought and this is where the radicals hang out—we’re like completely stunned.
We have no idea what they’re talking about. I mean its true I’m here, but its also true there’s a whole bunch of right-wing colleagues up and down the hallway who promote the status quo and believe in it and so on. And that’s true across the academy.
So why are they on the attack?
Because it is true people with a critical view can find a place and things to do —and not only things to do, but a public forum from which to have these debates. That’s unacceptable to these hard right-wingers, unacceptable. And so that’s why we’re seeing, in my mind why we’re seeing a wholesale attack on education generally.
On the level of K-12, we’re seeing the attack on the public space. And on the level of higher education, that attack on the public space is an attack on the idea that intellectual freedom has a place. And I think that’s huge, very, very important.
Reggie Dylan: And there’s a connection. Because you have kids coming to college now who have been fed a very narrow understanding of reality, including rooted in fundamentalist religion, rooted in the notion of evolution being a theory and not a fact.
And they come to the university and they get challenged with ideas they’ve never heard before. They’re being encouraged to question things in a way they never have before.
And to overturn that seems to be the goal of what Horowitz is doing. And you know we were talking about this, Ward Churchill has become a concentration point of that.
Bill Ayers: Well, Ward Churchill is a great example because what I think people, leftists are continually doing with the Ward Churchill case is missing this larger context you and I are talking about and instead kind of parsing,
“Well, what did he say and do I agree with it.” What the hell do I care?
First of all, there was a thorough study done by a university committee that never should have been set up, and they found a few, a tiny, a handful of instances where he might have borrowed a phrase, but nothing like Doris Kearns-Goodwin [a widely published historian who was found to have plagiarized extensively in one of her books] did, nothing like, you know, the big academics at Harvard have done, like Dershowitz [who has been accused of plagiarism].
And yet somehow he’s held to the standard.
And then people on the left again feel like they have to say, well this is part of what Ward says I don’t agree with.
What has that got to do with it?
He’s being pilloried for his politics, for being a leftist, for being a critic of U.S. imperialism as it relates to Native Americans.
How can we as socialists or as communists or as leftists, how can we leave him in the cold and say, well I’m a good leftist because I don’t talk the way Ward talks.
I find that appalling. And I would hope that when they come to get Ward, we all link arms and don’t allow it.
Reggie Dylan: And there’s a connection between them going after Ward Churchill and Horowitz’ book, The Professors, which has a hundred professors in it, and the point you make at the end of your letter of, where does this end? You said the attempt to cleanse has no end.
Bill Ayers:It’s not only cowardly, it’s cynical.But it’s suicidal.
And by cynical what I mean is that you don’t trust people and so you kind of try to parse out your own little place to have your career as a lefty.
And that just makes me sad when it doesn’t make me sick. You have to believe that if you speak the truth, if you speak up and speak the truth as you understand it, and you’re willing to listen and be in dialogue with people, that people can get it.
So the cowardliness of not speaking out—we see this in the Democratic Party all the time.
Why won’t they speak out against the war?
They know better, some of them. But they won’t. And partly because they’re bought into the same system. But even those who know better won’t do it, and the reason is they don’t trust people.
And we as revolutionaries have to say that at the end of the day, people will be smart enough, good enough, strong enough to stand up. But why should they do it if we don’t have the courage to do it?
And the letter I got was a cowardly letter. Its cynical, it’s cowardly, and it’s slippery.”
Debunking the Deranged Charges by Media Darling Col. Karpinski-Posted on Defend Our Freedoms-By Gate Way Pundit-On June 2, 2006:

These are pertinent excerpts from this article and/or blog post:
“Let’s see… the media needed to find someone to play along with their Haditha madness so who better than the… discredited, delusional, blaming, angry, and paranoid Colonel Janis Karpinski of Abu Ghraib fame who has mysteriously moved from villainess to hero in the eyes of the mainstream media.
Well, maybe not so mysterious since Karpinski is now a crowd favorite for the Far Left enthusiasts.
Karpinski with fellow extremist and Castro supporter Harry Belafonte at the January “International Commission of Inquiry On Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration”
Karpinski with fellow extremist and Castro supporter Harry Belafonte at the January “International Commission of Inquiry On Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration”
Colonel Karpinski is a definite crowd pleaser with the anti-war crowd for her strange attacks on the military and Bush Administration.
In a January interview at a BushCommission.Org event where she is listed as a “witness to war crimes” (and still listed as a Brig. General even though she was demoted to Colonel posted at World Can’t Wait), Janis Karpinski made a shocking claim of female soldier sexual abuse and death.
Here is the strange accusation by Janis Karpinski that shocked the giddy crowd of deranged Bush haters at the Bush Commission event:
She said women serving in the military in Iraq have been raped while using external latrines in the middle of the night where male soldiers lurk in wait for them, and that several women have died in their sleep from dehydration owing to their decision to drink no water after late afternoon in a country where temperatures average 120 degrees, in order to avoid having to get up in the middle of the night to use the latrines. None of these have been reported by the press, she notes.
Karpinski is still sticking with this absurd accusation as of two weeks ago when Armed Liberal had lunch with her in LA for a Hollywood gathering of moonbats.
But as usual, the truth (that the AP did not have time to research) is so entirely different…
There have been 58 brave women heroes who have lost their lives in the War in Iraq.
Most of the brave women have died in hostile fire, IED and murdering suicide attacks, or vehicle accidents.
7 women died in Iraq from other causes…
There was 1 death resulting from a fall, 1 heart attack, 1 illness, and 4 from unspecified causes.
Further:
*1 illness death was reported was while the woman was on guard duty.
*1 was a female soldier died in Kuwait.
*1 female soldier died at Walter Reed Army Medical Unit of non-combat related injuries.
*1 female soldier died while on duty in the Arabian Sea.
*1 of the unspecified causes was after Karpinski’s speech in January.
Here are two cohorts in delusion and self-importance, Ray McGovern and Cindy Sheehan, who are also part of the Bush Crimes Commission tour.
Of course the AP had no time to research this nuttiness from Janis Karpinski before they interviewed her on her thoughts on the Haditha incident.
Here is the AP interview of the ousted military commander of Abu Ghraib prison and leftist circuit tour speaker about her feelings on Haditha,
VIDEOHERE
Janis Karpinskiisn’t too optimistic:
The former commander of the military police brigade responsible for Abu Ghraib (grayb) prison says she’s hopeful the truth will come out about what happened in Haditha, Iraq.
Colonel Janis Karpinski says senior military officials are too afraid to tell the truth about what happened.
In an interview with The Associated Press, she says she isn’t confident that the Pentagon will conduct a complete investigation.
Karpinski also adds that core value training for troops in Iraq is coming too late. She says the extra training may not provide any insight into why some troops misbehave.
Karpinski was the highest-ranking officer punished in the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal. She was demoted a year ago from brigadier general to colonel.
Isn’t she just perfect for the mainstream news?!!
Expect to see more of Colonel Karpinski in the days and weeks ahead.“
